Someone Worth Taking Care of

Someone worth taking care of, often makes life worth living.

You wake up and hear the baby crying for milk, little feet shuffling to your door, larger feet making their way up the stairs for breakfast, the sound of the shower being turned on, the slight snore of your dog that has stolen too much of your heart and pillow this morning. These people, these lives, are worth taking care of. It is easy to look out and see others value and forget the value of the person you no longer care to look at in the mirror.

You. You are the someone worth taking care of. Yes, those in your life, God has placed there for a valuable purpose. Yet remember, he sees you valuable enough to step down from heaven to rescue you from sin and death. He sees you as someone worth dying for. He also created you and me as people worth taking care of.

You are someone worth taking care of.

I am thinking about this in particular in the light of eating healthy. There are plenty more ways we could focus on such as exercise, time with good friends, reading, gardening, doing something you love, etc. But today, I want to talk about feeding ourselves as though we have value.

Harmony Hill Farm is an incredible farm. They take great care of their animals, rotate them in a manner that prevents the cows from getting sick and they are getting fresh grass daily. The cows and lambs are grassfed and finished and they are treated with great care by the farmers.

Earl Ingersoll, one of the farmers shared this with me and I think it is so cool. They have this very neat mineral feeder for the cows. The minerals are in separate containers and the cow will only take the mineral her body needs. The way God has designed creation is incredible.

We too need to eat the food God has intended for us and make sure our bodies nutritional needs are met. We don’t need to be eating the corn from food lots and eating food that wasn’t designed for us and getting fat out of a lack of good and proper nutrition and lack of movement. Yet, thats what we do when we don’t eat the way God has intended OR like myself we have eaten too much of the good & healthy things.

Where are you in this? Are you needing to make yourself breakfast daily? Do you need to lose 20-30+ pounds like I did? Do you need to get a palate for vegetables? Want to start purchasing high quality meat that is raised the way God has intended? Do you need to stop emotional eating?

We are all in a different place in life. Some of us, praise God, are at a great place emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Others, we genuinely do not like the way we look in the mirror. We have stopped caring enough to make ourself a yummy or nutritionist breakfast. We have lost sight that we too are valuable…not only our kiddos or spouse.

I have lost over 40 lbs in the last year working with the eating plan Annette Reeder, The Biblical Nutritionist has created. It’s full of food that God has called good and it has been amazing to see the weight come off. The plan works and it’s worth it. It’s a lifestyle change. The hard days for me come when I forget my value and eat like I don’t care what happens to my body or my emotions. But staying on plan has been so freeing and I’m 4 sizes smaller and 40 lighters than I was last June! My skin is clean and bright, I have energy, self control, and my blood sugar is stable. I have 10-15 lbs left to lose and I am inviting you all into your own journey of following the plan Annette has created. You won’t regret it. It will be tough. But the best things in life often are.
